Default Helmet Cam

Just ordered the new Oregon Scientific ATC-2000 helmet cam (http://www2.oregonscientific.com/sho...cid=14&pid=709), should be here by next week. Many of the complaints of the older ATC-1000 camera was the 15 fps, the ATC-2000 has the option for 30 fps at 640X480. For only $128 hopefully it will be worth the money. Should have some video by next weekend.

Excellent. I've always wanted to try this too. Let us know what all you had to buy to make it work, when it's said and done.

Had a big writeup, but windows kept blocking. Any way camera kicks ass. Wrapped it up in saran wrap and didn't have a problem with saltwater. Well worth the money. Helps to have a portable DVD player with a line in to view video on site.

Nice video. I noted when I was at the ocean, the colors are washed out on my still camera, so the colors are about what I'd expect at that location.

The sound was like 1000 angry chipmonks scratching a chalkboard at one time. I wonder how much of that was from the plastic bag.

I can't wait to get it in and try it.

thanks for sharing.

I actually just bought this cam instead.

It has ok video, pretty good pics too. The digital zoom sucks but then again, its just a cheap little cam and works great for what we were doing.

Yesterday I went out and bought a skateboard helmet since I could not get the rubber strap to fit on my MX helmet. I setup the camera without the saran wrap and got the same wind noise. Probably need to setup some type of wind screen since there is no volume adjustment on the camera.
Below would be a pretty cool setup. We stopped by Glamis Thursday afternoon and came across a preproduction team for a new Toyo tire commercial that will use the coptervision to film part of it.

Okay,
got the camera in the mail.

-XP wants drivers for something, but it still shows up as a folder. I suppose if you had the correct driver it would act as a camera for the computer too.

-Havent tried it yet. I think Brians video speaks for itself.
-I think the microphone is on the front bottom. A piece of thin tape over it will prevent the wind noise, I think.
-I like the use of the SD card.
-The waterproof rear cap is excellent.
-I would have rather seen rechargeable option with a charger than 2 AA, but that is personal preference.
-Handlebar mount is cool, but I feel like I'm going to break off an ear inserting it.
-I havent tried the headgear mount yet.
-Doesn't like lowlight conditions.
-The buttons for the menu control are so tough, it's like sticking uncooked rice into the ends of your fingertips. Good luck wearing wet gloves, on the side of your helmet.
-The menu is good enough, but the right side, is half-hidden in the window. Carry the manual, the first few times. I could see how it could get confusing. It it fairly self-explanitory.
-The weight isn't bad. You'll still know it's there. It's not as light as a bullet camera, but I like not having wires and crap hanging off my head.
