Default Nikon customer service.

My 51pt 3d focusing system on my brandy new D300 is acting up. I got up early today so that I could spend a small amount of my life on the phone with another mindless corporation to try and get a RMA to send in my camera for repair.

So I called Nikon's 1800 number. Got the automated response. Pressed the number for service.... and a very nice lady picked up the phone on the 2nd ring. I was SHOCKED. I stumbled for the right words, and said something like... "WOW! a real person in one ring." She replied, "and in El Segundo California too."

Long story short, she spent 30min on the phone going over all the controls to my D300 (with one in front of her and the manual) and we decided to send it in. The RMA process was straightforward, and the printouts were automatic. (don't use firefox, it screws up, use IE)

So at this point, I'm at least pleasantly surprised at how this repair has started. Stay tuned!
